Privacy Policy
This explains what we do with your information when you use Tilers Mate. We've tried to write it in plain English rather than legal language.
The short version. Your quotes, your customers' names and addresses, your prices and your job history are stored on your own phone or computer. They are never sent to us and we cannot see them. The only personal information we hold about you is the email address you use to subscribe.
Who we are
Tilers Mate is operated by Tilers Mate Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17344992), registered office Brookfield Court, Selby Road, Leeds LS25 1NB.
For anything to do with your data, email hello@tilersmateapp.co.uk. Tilers Mate Ltd is the data controller.
Your job data stays on your device
Tilers Mate does its sums in your browser. Everything you enter — your trade prices, your business details, your suppliers, your customers' names and addresses, and every quote and job you save — is stored locally on the device you're using, in your browser's own storage.
That information is not uploaded to us, we hold no copy of it, and we have no way of reading it. If your customer's address is in Tilers Mate, it stays on your phone.
Two practical consequences, and they matter:
- If you clear your browser data, use private browsing, or change device, that information is gone and we cannot recover it for you. Please keep your own records of anything important.
- Because your customers' details never reach us, you remain responsible for how you handle your own customers' information under data protection law.
What we do collect
- Your email address — when you subscribe. We use it to identify your subscription, to restore your access if you change device, and to contact you about the service.
- Payment information — taken and held by Stripe, not by us. We never see or store your card number.
- Basic technical information — our hosting provider records standard server logs, including IP addresses, as part of delivering the website securely.
We do not use analytics, advertising trackers or cookies to profile you. Tilers Mate sets no advertising or tracking cookies at all.
Why we're allowed to hold it
- To provide what you've paid for (performance of a contract) — your email address and subscription record.
- Our legitimate interests — keeping the service secure and working, and dealing with support enquiries.
- Legal obligation — keeping records of sales for tax and accounting purposes.
Who else is involved
We keep this list short deliberately.
- Stripe — takes your payment and holds your subscription record. When you use the "already subscribed" option, your email address is sent to Stripe so we can check whether your subscription is active. See Stripe's own privacy policy for how they handle it.
- Netlify — hosts the website and the app.
- Google Fonts — our pages load two typefaces from Google's servers, which means Google receives your IP address when a page loads. No account or tracking is involved.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with advertisers.
How long we keep it
We keep your subscription record for as long as you're a customer, and afterwards for as long as we're legally required to keep sales records — currently six full financial years for tax purposes. Support emails are kept for up to two years.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of what we hold about you
- correct anything that's wrong
- delete it, where we're not required to keep it
- restrict or object to how we use it
- provide it in a portable format
Email hello@tilersmateapp.co.uk and we'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled it you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top. If the change is significant we'll tell subscribers by email.
